Exhibition on the composer Carl Reinthaler

Ausstellung Komponist Carl Reinthaler

BETWEEN ORGAN LOFT AND ORCHESTRA PIT - THE BREMEN MUSIC POPE CARL REINTHALER (1822-1896)

13.10.2022 – 08.01.2023

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth, the Dom-Museum is presenting an exhibition on the important Bremen composer and music director Carl Martin Reinthaler.
Reinthaler was active in Bremen from 1857 to 1893 and left his mark on the city's musical life. As a composer of award-winning operas, large choral works with orchestra, symphonies, piano songs and many more, he was highly esteemed by fellow musicians such as Johannes Brahms, Carl Reinecke and Max Bruch. In 1868, he took over the choral rehearsal for the premiere of Brahms's Deutsches Requiem at Bremen Cathedral with the Singakademie he directed.

The exhibition, which was created in cooperation with the University of Bremen and the Erfurt Theatre, will be opened on 13 October in connection with the Thursday Motet at 7:00 pm.

A publication on the exhibition by Christian Kämpf (University of Halle) and Arne Langer (Theatre Erfurt) will also be published by Schünemann-Verlag.

Wir danken der Karin und Uwe Hollweg Stiftung für ihre großzügige Unterstützung bei der Realisierung von Ausstellung und Buch.
